serge baghdassarians (1972, Fürth )/boris baltschun (1974, Bremen)

Boris and Serge collaborate since 1999 with a focus on the conception and realisation of temporary as well as longtime installations which use mechanical means to realize an aesthetic inspired by electronic music. with references to outdated 19th century technology (lovers telegraph, steam engine f.e..) as well as computer controlled motor systems a visualisation of sonic phenomena is pursued. of importance are also seemingly simple and minimal setups (well known, but appropiated materials) which produce complex results.
furthermore they are working in the field of live-electronic music. while boris baltschun is mainly concentrating on sampling - it’s technical and asthetical implications as well as it‘s application in different contexts - serge baghdassarians is -with the help of his rheotrope- oriented towards the cybernetic idea of feedback within a closed-circuit system of sound processing devices.
