Douglas Henderson (Baltimore,1960)
Der Klangkünstler und Komponist Douglas Henderson studierte
Komposition und Muisktheorie mit Milton Babbitt, Paul Lansky
und J.K. Randall. Seine Kompositionsstudien an der Princeton
University schloss er 1991 mit einem PhD ab, vom Bard College
graduierte er 1982 mit einem Bachelor. Bis vor kurzem leitete
er die Klangkunstabteilung der School of the Museum of Fine
Arts, Boston. Er gibt Meisterklassen in elektro-akustischer
Komposition sowie in Ton- und Aufnahmetechnik.
Im Jahr 2007 war er Stipendiat des DAAD in Berlin und erhielt
ein Einzelstipendium der Foundation for Contemporary Arts. 2002
und 2006 war er Artist in Residence am Harvestworks Digital
Media Lab, im Jahr 2004 war er Fellow des Dance Theater Workshop
ARM, und 2005 war er Gastkünstler des Resonance Magazins
(London).
Für seine Kollaboration mit dem Choreographen Luis Lara
Malvacías erhielt er 2005 einen Preis des Multi-Arts
Programmes der Rockefeller Foundation, seine Arbeit an Kriyas
wurde 1998 mit dem New York Dance and Performance Award („Bessie“)
ausgezeichnet.
